you have about EC Utilty Door.
Introduction -
This is a simple little SysOp Utility Door to go along
with the game ESTERIAN Conquest.
I wrote this door because I wanted a way to start the game with
everybody starting off together because I felt it was more
FAIR that way. I also plan to hold contests and this is just
the thing for starting them off.
I came to realize that I might not be the only SysOp that
feels this way. Somebody out there may want to use this door
also, so here it is.....
Features -
* Simple TEXT files for easy editing by the sysops.
* Always updating files, which may be downloaded from
I.D.I.C. BBS FREE!!.
* Able to D/L 5 different files from within the door

#2 - List of CURRENT Game RANKing Files
#3 - ECPLAYER.ZIP The player Documentation

of neat forms and such to make play fun)
#5 - This file is "SysOp configurable" or in
other words is up to the SysOp what file is here!

FUTURE ENHANCEMENT -
Depends on the suggestions we get from the Users!!!
We will be providing upgrades and enhancements to this Door!
Distribution Policy -
This door is being distributed as FREEWARE (NOT as public domain).
This Door was made to further enhance the fun of this wonderful
game and may be used for as long as you wish to use it!!
You may copy and distribute this Door, as long as all original
files remain in archive and it is distributed in an unmodified form.
No one may charge for this door, except normal access or copying
fees not to exceed normal standard.
Setup -
+ Place all files from zip file in a seperate directory.
example: mine is in \doors\ECU
+ Also place the following files into the door directory:
#1 - ZIP FILE of the Latest Version of ESTERIAN CONQUEST
#2 - CURRENT.ZIP (see notes on this file BELOW)
#3 - ECPLAYER.ZIP (Zip up the PLAYER.DOC found with EC)
#4 - EC-UTILS.ZIP (see notes on this file BELOW)
#5 - And the File you defined in the Config File.
+ Place the Config: ECU.CFG in the door directory.
Using a text editor modify the config with the following
information:
1st line: Your BBS Name
2nd line: Your Name
3rd line: Latest EC Version Number
4th line: Latest COMPLETE Esterian Conquest ZIP file
5th line: Whatever you wish to show up on the menu! (see example)
6th line: Filename that they can d/l (from line 5).
CONFIG Example:
I.D.I.C. BBS
Russell Femyer
1.10
EC110.ZIP
EC Contest Rules!!!
Contest.zip
+ Make sure that DSZ is somewhere in your PATH statement!
+ Make a File with your favorite TEXT editor (I use QEDIT)
called: GAMES.DOC with information on when the NEXT Game will
start and the Game number! Give Exact Dates, Door number
for them to open, etc. This is also where you would place
contest information.
+ Function Keys:
F5 = SysOp Shell to DOS (Local Only)
F8 = Return to BBS (close door)
F9 = Screen off/on
F10 = SysOp Chat
RUNNING: Example Batch file
cd\doors\ECU << change to ECU directory
ECU c:\pcb\pcboard.sys << call ECU and BBS file
cd\pcb << change back to board directory
board << call up BBS
SIGN.IN:
A text file that the Door creates and then adds to telling the
SysOp the user's name, what day they signed up for the games and finally
what game(s) they wish to play in.
SIGN.OUT:
A text file that the Door creates and then adds to telling the SysOp
the user's name, what day they CHANGED their mind and finally what game(s)
they do NOT wish to play in.
CURRENT.ZIP:
We are including a batch file (current.bat) we use to ZIP up the
RANKINGS.TXT files that EC creates when maintenance is run.
This same batch file copies the CURRENT.ZIP file over to the
ECU directory after it's done.
Make a Directory called TEMP off of your ECU directory.
Of course you will have to place your directory paths into the file
where mine currently are, and make sure PKZIP is in the PATH.
EC-UTILS.ZIP:
This is a ZIP file with some forms (fleet movements, scout, ETACs, etc)
that help in playing the game(in our opinion). We will update this file
and welcome the SysOps to add to the file they use on THEIR BBS.
Please do not modify the one in the ZIP. If you have something that is
worth using then up-load it to us and we will insert it into the
archive and distribute the new archive.
GENERIC.SYS:
If we do not directly support your BBS software, then simply utilize
the GENERIC.SYS file.
With an editor make a file called GENERIC.SYS. The format of
the file is as follows:
1st line: SYSOP NAME
2nd line: COM PORT
3rd line: Time you are allowing user in door

MANY MANY THANKS -
BENTLEY GRIFFITH for making ESTERIAN CONQUEST for so many of
us to enjoy!! This is absolutely the most comprehensive,
professionally done door we have ever played!!! We have been
hooked on this door since the day we put up the test drive.
We sent off a check within a week!
Joel B. Cohen for his help and for writing the excellent
documentation that came with ESTERIAN CONQUEST.
Rickie W. Belitz for making a Door Development kit that was
so easy to use my five year old could figure it out.
To my Children - Jesse Forrest(5), Nicole Loraine(4), and
Christopher Hawke(2 1/2) who still love their daddy even if he does
spend a lot of time on that machine.
And last but certainly not least....my wife, Sheila Femyer,
who patiently withstood my time and energy being spent on my
C classes, Programming, and BBS. She stands behind me and gives
me strength and patience when I have totally lost all of mine.
Support -
For non-registered and registered users...my BBS will always have
the latest version available for down-load.
